Winter may be coming, but instead of dragons, readers can expect fairies! BOOM! Studios and The Jim Henson Company have just announced their fourth Storyteller collaboration release, Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Fairies. This four-issue series, debuting December 2017, features standalone stories by Matt Smith (Barbarian Lord), Benjamin Schipper (Cap’n Rex & His Clever Crew), Tyler Jenkins (Grass Kings), and Celia Lowenthal (The Saga of Gisli the Outlaw).

Across television and the printed page, the Storyteller and his faithful dog have thrilled fans with myths, legends, and stories from around the world. Following Witches, Dragons, and Giants, Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Fairies is the latest Storyteller series release from BOOM! Studios. Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Fairies #1 features covers by Matt Smith and Sas Milledge (Mimon).

The Storyteller television series used classic folklore as a showcase for Jim Henson’s incredible creativity. We encourage the artists working on this property to approach their stories with the same creative tenacity. The artists for Fairies rose to the occasion in inspiring fashion. We can’t wait for fans to see the detail and imagination put into each tale,” shared Cameron Chittock, BOOM! Studios associate editor.

Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Fairies reimagines “The Elf Queen and the Shepherd,” into a tale of elven fairies in Iceland. After a Fairy Princess is cursed to the human realm and cursed to bring death wherever she goes, Grettir the Strong embarks on a quest to break her curse. Future issues from the series will focus on fairies from Hawaiian and Danish folklore.

This is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ critically acclaimed Archaia imprint, joining titles like Mouse Guard, Rust, Bolivar, Jane by Aline Brosh McKenna and Ramón Pérez, Jim Henson’s The Power of the Dark Crystal and Jim Henson’s Labyrinth.

Print copies of the debut issue will be available at local comic book shops or through the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can also be purchased from comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and the BOOM! Studios app.
