The classic Hasbro toy line turned Netflix animated series, Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters, will now be stretching his way into comics. In January 2018, IDW Publishing will be releasing the comic book tie-in, Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters

This series follows teenager Jake Armstrong, as he and his friends are exposed to chemicals granting them incredible abilities. Along with Ricardo Perez, a/k/a Omni-Mass, and Nathan Park, a/k/a Wingspan, these diverse heroes defend the futuristic Charter City. At the helm is series Executive Producers and head writers Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt, with art by Nikos Koutsis (Savage Dragon). Additional cover art will be provided by Koutsis and Aluir Amancio (Superman Adventures). Netflix’s Stretch Armstrong was developed by Burke and Wyatt, in collaboration with Executive Producer Victor Cook.

“We’re so excited to bring Stretch Armstrong into comics with IDW. Our teen superhero TV series is very much influenced by classic comics, so Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters having their own monthly print adventures feels like a perfect fit,” shared Burke.

“We’re carefully designing the Stretch Armstrong comic book stories to work as ‘standalones’ for people who haven’t seen the Netflix series yet, but to also reward viewers of the show with more depth on their favorite characters. We’re having a blast writing these issues,” added Wyatt.

The comic book series takes place during the events of this fall’s debut season of the Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters animated series. Readers who grab their copy of the comic will get an early glimpse at a new villain before making its broadcast debut.

Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters #1 will be available in print and digital January 2018.
