This December 2017, writer James Tynion IV and artist Freddie Williams II are releasing a direct sequel to 2015’s Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This six-issue series – published by DC Entertainment, IDW Publishing, and TMNT’s owners, Nickelodeon – will see Donatello and Bane switch universes. While this leaves another hero protecting Gotham, it launches a dangerous villain into the lives of the TMNT.

“What DC and IDW started with Batman/TMNT in 2015 continues to spark interest with fans of these characters that have worldwide recognition. We can’t wait to see what James and Freddie deliver this time around,” shared Hank Kanalz, DC’s Senior VP of Editorial Strategy & Administration.

“The original crossover between Batman and the Turtles was met with such positive enthusiasm from the fans, that it was only a matter of time before their paths crossed again. Fans have themselves to thank for making this a reality, yet again, and we’re confident that we can deliver the goods to meet their expectations with our talented creative team returning for round two,” added Greg Goldstein, IDW Publishing’s President/COO.

After opening a doorway to the DCU, Donatello intends to ask Batman to mentor him in the art of being a hero. Unfortunately, in the process, Donatello is pulled through the doorway as Bane slips past him into his world. “Suddenly, there’s a new gang boss in New York and he’s out to unite all the other bad guys under him. Can Donnie get back in time and bring Batman with him to help his brothers before Bane causes irreparable destruction?” reads DC’s description of the title.

Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is scheduled for release on December 6, with a second issue following on December 20. Afterward the title will switch to a monthly release schedule. Williams II will illustrate the main covers for all six issues, while TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman is producing variants.
