The inaugural Anime NYC convention will be bringing a celebration of Japanese pop culture to the Javits Center in New York City on November 17-19, 2017, and will also be hosting the exclusive U.S. premiere of the live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film. There will also be a special appearance from the film’s director, Fumihiko Sori.
This screening will cap off the convention weekend on Sunday, November 19 at 3 PM the closing film of the show.
Fullmetal Alchemist was first published as a manga in 2001 and has since gone on to sell more than 70 million copies worldwide. It has since received two different anime adaptations as well, which popularized the series in the U.S. thanks to regular appearances on Toonami.
“We are truly honored that Fullmetal Alchemist is chosen as the closing film of the very first commemorable Anime NYC,” said director Fumihiko Sori. “In July, we presented six minutes of footage of the film at L.A.’s Anime Expo and at Japan Expo in Paris, and we are so excited to bring the full feature to all of you from various countries. Please come visit us and meet Ed and Al in live action!”
