Since early November 2017, the Starz network has been streaming classic Godzilla films. While viewers enjoyed the November line-up of Showa era films, eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice the Criterion logo on each film’s thumbnail. Now, Criterion’s Jon Mulvaney took to Godzilla-Movies.com to confirm that Janus Films/The Criterion Collection has acquired the rights to 14 Godzilla films.

“It’s true! Janus Films and the Criterion Collection have the rights to these Godzilla films and Starz is licensing them from us. We hope to make them available on other platforms in the future. Please stay tuned," Mulvaney said.

In addition to being broadcast on Starz, the reference to “other platforms” teases the possibility of future releases under the Criterion brand. It includes the popular Criterion Collection blu-ray series. This would be a true treat for the fandom, as many of these films have neither been remastered or available in any format in over a decade.

The full list of titles acquired includes Godzilla (1954), Godzilla Raids Again (1955), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (1956), Rodan (1956), Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964), Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster (1964), Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965), War of the Gargantuas (1966), Son of Godzilla (1967), Destroy All Monsters (1968), All Monsters Attack (1969), Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973), Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla (1974) and Terror of MechaGodzilla (1975).
