Sir Elton John will be heading back to the recording studio for Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King. John will be teaming up with Tim Rice to once again record songs written for the original animated film, such as “Circle of Life.” But in addition to that, John will be partnering with Beyonce on a new end credits song for the remake.

“They need to have a new end credits song,” John told The Sun. “There’s going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original: ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight?,’ ‘Hakuna Matata,’ ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King,’ and ‘Circle of Life.’ And then there will be an end, closing song, and we’ve been speaking to Beyonce’s people and hopefully Tim and I and her can cook up something."

The soundtrack to The Lion King is the bestselling soundtrack album to an animated film ever, having sold more than 7 million copies since its release in 1994. “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” also won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year.

Disney’s live-action Lion King project will star Beyonce as Nala, alongside Donald Glover as Simba and James Earl Jones as Mufasa. The film is being directed by Jon Favreau, who previously worked on The Jungle Book’s live-action remake for Disney, and is set for a July 19, 2019 release.
