Nicolas Cage will finally be able to live out the dream of being the Man of Steel, as he has been cast to voice Superman in the upcoming film, Teen Titans GO! To the Movies.

Cage once was set to don the suit for the live-action Superman Lives, a film that entered production in the mid-1990s based on the 1992 The Death of Superman comic book storyline. The film featured a script written by Kevin Smith and was to be directed by Tim Burton, but was determined to not be economically viable and was cancelled in 1998. A documentary based on the film’s doomed production, The Death of ‘Superman Lives’: What Happened?, released in 2015.

Cage is a noted Superman fan, going so far as to name his son Kal-El and at one point owning a copy of Action Comics #1, which he went on to sell in 2011 at auction for $2.16 million.

Teen Titans GO! To the Movies will feature a number of vocal cameos in addition to Cage, including Lil Tachty as John Stewart, Will Arnett as Deathstroke, and several others. The film releases on July 27, 2018.
