Both of the two upcoming new seasons of the FLCL (pronounced “fooly cooly”) anime received a combination trailer teasing the wackiness to come – as well as Haruko’s return. The new FLCL was originally teased with a quick trailer back at Anime Expo 2017, but this 90-second trailer not only provides a significantly more in-depth look at what’s to come, but also revealed the release dates.
The original FLCL ran for six episodes back in 2000, and the English dub quickly became wildly popular in the U.S. as it ran on the Adult Swim and Toonami programming blocks on Cartoon Network. The story follows a young boy, Naota, who encounters the eccentric Haruko Haruhara, turning his otherwise quiet suburban life upside down. The two new seasons will be running for six episodes each as well, and will also air on the current Saturday night Toonami block on Cartoon Network.
FLCL: Progressive arrives in June 2018, with FLCL: Alternative premiering the following September. Production of the new series is being handled by Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) and Studio Bones (Fullmetal Alchemist).
