Forrest J. Ackerman and Trina Robbins’ vampire superheroine, Vampirella, is gearing up to celebrate her 50th anniversary in 2019. Dynamite Entertainment is kicking off the semicentennial celebration early with a selection of comics, deluxe box sets, poster calendars and more!
The excitement begins on June 6, 2018 with the release of Vampirella Roses for the Dead #1. Popular artist Joseph Michael Linsner and his wife Kristina Deak-Linsner (Dawn/Vampirella) lead this 4-issue Vampirella miniseries that gets Vampi back-to-basics. This story sees Vampirella hunting down a sexual predator in order to feed her insatiable thirst for blood. While tracking him down, Evily the Witch bars her path. Do they both decide to team up against him, or remain at odds?
On the same day, readers can pick up the Hack/Slash vs. Vampirella: The Heart is a Lonely Killer trade paperback. This volume collects the complete, 5-issue series by Shawn Aldridge (The Dark and Bloody) and Rapha Labosco (James Bond), and features all of the covers by Jenny Frison, Carli Ihde, Jen Vaughn, Kyle Strahm, Chrissie Zullo, Goran Sudzuka, Michael Dooney, Bully Tucci, and more. The Vegas strip heats up as Cassie Hack and her companion Vlad meet the lethal Vampirella in an epic team-up event.
Hitting shelves on June 13 is Vampirella The Dynamite Years Omnibus Vol. 3, collecting Vampirella #1-13, Annual 2015, and Prelude to Shadows. This mammoth 424-page omnibus sees Vampirella on a mission by the Vatican, becoming the centerpiece of a ritual invoking Lady Umbra, assuming the role and obligations of Lord Drago, joining a clandestine organization of supernatural creatures and much more. Bram Stoker Award-winning author Nancy A. Collins (Swamp Thing) and Patrick Berkenkotter (Red Sonja) lead this series, brining Vampirella back to her horror roots.
The following month, Dynamite is collecting the Roses for the Dead miniseries in a limited edition deluxe box set. This set features all-new covers signed by both Kristina and Joseph Linsner, a limited edition variant signed and designed by Joseph Linsner, a complete set of regular edition and retailer exclusive covers by Billy Tucci and Joe Linsner, the Roses for the Dead #1 blank Authentix cover, a limited edition print of Tucci’s cover art signed by Tucci, and a limited edition print of Joseph Linsner’s cover art signed by Linsner. The entire deluxe set, retailed for $199.99, is collected in a special Vampirella-themed box.
