A full theatrical trailer for the upcoming Venom film has released online, providing the first clear look at the alien symbiote in action. The trailer also gives some insight into the plot of the film, which will follow Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) as he faces off against Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) and the Life Foundation.

In the comics, Drake attempted to create more Venoms by using a sample of the symbiote to create additional ones, leading to the creation of Scream, among others. The trailer shows Brock investigating Drake and the Life Foundation as a journalist, and later becoming infected with the symbiote himself. The Venom film will feature the titular character as more of an antihero, rather than the villain he has often been portrayed as.

In addition to Hardy and Ahmed, Venom stars Michelle Williams, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, and Jenny Slate. Venom will arrive in theaters on October 5, 2018.
