Warner Bros. and DC Comics have recently announced plans for an animated feature centered around the four-legged heroes, the Super-Pets. The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie writer Jared Stern has been hired to write and direct the upcoming project. 

The Super-Pets team, also known as the Legion of Super-Pets, first appeared together in Adventure Comics #293 in 1962. Throughout the series, the team has featured Krypto the Super-Dog, Streaky the Super-Cat, Beppo the Super-Monkey, Comet the Super-Horse, Damian Wayne’s dog Titus, Aquaman’s seahorse Storm, Flexi the Plastic Bird, Bat-Cow, Clay Critter, and Harley Quinn’s hyenas Bud and Lou. It remains to be seen if Stern’s script will be based on the comic series or the Cartoon Network shorts from 2013. 

In addition to the LEGO franchise, Stern has worked on such animated features as BoltThe Princess and the FrogWreck-It Ralph, Meet the Beetles, and It’s a Small World. Currently, Stern is executive producing Storks and Smallfoot for Warner Bros, as well as writing and directing Netflix’s Green Eggs and Ham adaptation.
