A feature film focused on Supergirl has entered development by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, according to a new report by Deadline. There is no date or production schedule set for this potential project.
The script is being worked on by Oren Uziel, who has previously written the screenplay for 22 Jump Street and The Cloverfield Paradox, and is also tapped to write the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film. Uziel also wrote and directed Shimmer Lake for Netflix.
Supergirl is the heroic alter ego of Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin who had been sent to earth separately following the destruction of Krypton. She has been the focus of various media adaptations in the past, including the 1984 Supergirl film (which starred Helen Slater in the title role) and, more recently, the Supergirl television series (starring Melissa Benoist).
