Valiant has announced that Livewire – one of the new titles in the publisher’s “Beyond” initiative – has been expanded from its previously announced limited series run into a full-fledged ongoing series.

Arriving in stores this December 2018 from Vita Ayala (Supergirl), and the artistic team of Raúl Allén and Patricia Martín (Secret Weapons series), Livewire #1 will begin the character’s first ever solo series at Valiant Comics and will send Amanda McKee, the technopath, on a difficult new path of heartbreak and heroism.

“Following the events of Harbinger Wars 2, Livewire is in a vulnerable position, both literally and morally,“ writer Vita Ayala told CBR. “To bring her back to a state of equilibrium (in terms of who she is), we needed to take her down to her foundations and build her back up again. That is not to say that she is becoming a different person, but rather, that we want to get to the core of her and reinvigorate her convictions.”

Once, Amanda McKee knew her purpose. She wanted to wield her machine-manipulating powers for the good of humanity, to protect other superpowered people like her, and time after time she faced betrayal from mentors, colleagues, and even the U.S. government. Now, in the wake of the worst disaster the country’s ever faced – one that was directly caused by her hand – Livewire must decide for herself what kind of hero she will be and if she’ll be one at all.

In the wake of Valiant Beyond titles like Faith: Dreamside #1 in September and Bloodshot Rising Spirit #1 in November, Livewire #1 will 2018 for the publisher and enter them into the new year with a bang.
