Iron Man and Jungle Book filmmaker Jon Favreau took to Instagram to share details about his live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. Available exclusively on Disney’s streaming service, which will also contain the studio’s Pixar and Marvel films, will be based on the warrior race that spawned Jango Fett and his son Boba Fett.

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic,” Favreau posted.

Boba Fett was originally introduced in The Empire Strikes Back as a bounty hunter employed by both Darth Vader and Jabba the Hutt. George Lucas’ prequel trilogy Attack of the Clones further established his origin as an unaltered clone of Jango Fett, which is explored more in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and much of the Star Wars Legends continuity.

It was also reported earlier this year that Disney was rebooting a Boba Fett standalone film with James Mangold (Logan) at the helm.

Along with writing the script for The Mandalorian, Favreau will serve as executive producer on the series.
