Paramount Pictures has dropped the first chilling trailer for the new adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary. Between old-timer Jud Crandall hinting at the secrets lurking beyond the woods and the haunting group of children in animal masks, this first teaser captures the eerie feel of the classic horror story.

Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), along with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children, as they relocate from Boston to rural Maine. Here they discover a disturbing burial ground hidden deep within in the woods near their new home. When tragedy befalls the Creed family they turn to Jud Crandall (John Lithgow) for help. One decision sets off a chain reaction that brings unspeakable evil right to their doorstep.

Directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch (Starry Eyes), this new adaption is written by Jeff Buhler (Nightflyers). Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers) is producing along with Mark Vahradian and Steven Schneider (Insidious).

Pet Sematary is slated for release on April 5, 2019.
