Quantcast

Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of The Witcher has seen a number of major character castings confirmed thanks to a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter by showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

Two of the most important characters, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Ciri, will be played by Anya Chalotra (Wanderlust) and Freya Allan (Into the Badlands). Yennefer is the primary love interest for the Witcher himself, Geralt of Rivia, while Ciri is his adopted daughter. Henry Cavill was previously confirmed to be playing Geralt.

Other casting confirmations include: Jodhi May as Queen Canathe, Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Adam Levy as Mousesack, MyAnna Byrine as Tissaia, and Millie Brady as Renfri.

Netflix’s Witcher will be primarily based on the original series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, rather than the hugely popular video game series developed by CD Projekt Red. There is no word yet as to when this series will premiere on the streaming service.
