The first look at Sonic the Hedgehog’s live-action appearance has debuted via a motion poster revealed via IGN on their Instagram account. The quick teaser shows Sega’s famous mascot speeding around, collecting rings, before stopping just short of revealing his face. The live-action Sonic has visible fur, a more lifelike muscular structure compared to his video game counterpart, and a new pair of red sneakers.

The Sonic the Hedgehog film is being directed by Jeff Fowler, and will star Ben Schwartz as the titular hedgehog, alongside Jim Carrey as Sonic’s longtime nemesis Doctor Robotnik. The film is set to arrive in late 2019.
