This May 2019, the flagship Women of Dynamite Entertainment are coming face to face with Riverdale’s leading ladies in Red Sonja and Vampirella Meet Betty and Veronica.

In Dynamite’s first crossover with Archie Comics, the female powerhouses unite to solve a string of paranormal, unsolved murders. When Drakulon and Hyrkania drop off their famous vampire hunter and sword-wielding barbarian into the small, sleepy town something is surely afoot.

Amy Chu (Red Sonja) returns to the fiery-haired She-Devil to write even more of a fish out of water tale than her fan favorite Worlds Away arc. Joining her on the art side is Maria Laura Sanapo (DC Comics Bombshells) who just drew the Vampirella Valentine’s Day Special. Together these two women will chronicle the incomparable charm of their four leading ladies.

From Batman, the Punisher, The Ramones, KISS, and even the Predator, Archie and the gang have had countless encounters with strange and deadly forces in the town of Riverdale. Even with so many famous faces having visited, nothing has prepared Betty and Veronica as they meet two of the most memorable women in comics.

“Archie was one of the few comics my Mom would buy for us now and then. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up so my mom wasn’t about to blow it all on comics. I’ve done quite a bit of Red Sonja to date, this is my first Archie book, and also Vampirella. Of course there’s the challenge of pulling it off, not every kind of story is suited for this kind of team up,” shared Chu.

Fay Dalton (James Bond: Casino Royale) kicks off the selection of covers with her painterly style accentuating the crimson mane of Sonja and the teenage pep of the Riverdale girls in the locker room. Also represented are Archie Horror legends Francesco Francavilla (Afterlife with Archie), Robert Hack (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Laura Braga (Blossoms 666). Paulina Ganucheau (Mother Panic) brings her adorable style with a cover featuring fashionable reinterpretations for Red Sonja and Vampirella.

Dynamite also continues its tradition of cosplay covers with women portraying the four heroines for this series, while no series starring the Archie characters would be complete without a contribution from Dan Parent – who has written and drawn the teens for over 30 years.

“We’ve wanted to play in the sandbox with the Dynamite gang for some time, and I’m really happy the stars aligned on this one,” said Archie Comics Co-President Alex Segura. “Amy Chu’s story is a fun, energized romp that brings together our iconic duo of Betty and Veronica with Vampi and Red Sonja. Four badass ladies join forces for a crossover you won’t forget. What more could you want?”

“Like so many comic book fans, Archie was a constant favorite as a youngster. I’ve been so impressed with how they’ve taken the publishing to a new level in recent years with diverse stories like the Archie Horror line and the New Riverdale relaunch. And like so many others, I’m glued to my TV watching Riverdale now,”said Nick Barrucci, CEO and publisher of Dynamite. “I just knew we had to do this crossover for the fans!”

Red Sonja and Vampirella Meet Betty and Veronica #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ March 2019 PREVIEWS catalog, slated for release in May 2019.

Comic book fans can preorder copies with their local comic book retailers.
