When the third season of Stranger Things hits Netflix this summer, it will be joined by a complementary premiere – that of Stranger Things 3: The Game. The video game sports a retro aesthetic reminiscent of classic early 1990s adventure games, and has the player navigating through the show’s town as one of several different characters.

The game will feature local split-screen cooperative play, and can also be played solo; there is no online multiplayer available. Each character has different special abilities that can be used in combat, and as new characters are unlocked, players can switch around within the roster at any time.

“Play through and delve deeper into the events of Stranger Things 3 in a retro-style adventure game from BonusXP,” a press release said. “Explore Hawkins, solve puzzles and team up with a friend in local co-op to battle the emerging evils of The Upside Down as one of twelve playable characters from the hit original series.”

Stranger Things 3: The Game arrives on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on July 4, 2019.
