Avengers: Endgame has already smashed through almost every box office record out there, and it might have a shot at the all-time global box office record with the news, revealed first through ComicBook.com, that it’s returning to the theaters with new footage.

During the press junket for Spider-Man: Far From Home in London, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that Endgame will return to theaters with additional footage not present in the original release.

“We are doing that,” Feige said. “I don’t know if it’s been announced. And I don’t know how much... Yeah, we’re doing it next weekend.”

This means that Avengers: Endgame will be hitting theaters about a week before the premiere of Spider-Man: Far From Home, allowing fans to see the movies in a back to back fashion if they wish.

Currently, James Cameron’s Avatar still holds the all-time global box office record, with $2.788 billion; Endgame has closed in on that, so far grossing $2.743 billion. The rerelease may be what it takes to push Endgame over the precipice and take that top spot.
