Netflix released the first trailer for their upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular fantasy series The Witcher, which originated as a set of novels before being turned into a critically acclaimed video game series. The trailer, which debuted during Netflix’s Comic-Con panel, highlights Henry Cavill in the starring role of Geralt of Rivia, who looks like he’ll be taking on plenty of supernatural action over the course of the series.

“[Geralt] has a dichotomy of being very hard on the exterior because that’s how he thinks the world is, but deep, deep down there’s this man who has a belief of what the world can be,” Cavill said at the panel.

The Witcher as a series is set to be more based on the original books, which were written by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, rather than on the popular video games developed by CD Projekt Red.

The Witcher, in addition to Cavill as Geralt, will star Freya Allan (The War of the Worlds) as Ciri, and Anya Chalotra (Wanderlust) as Yennefer. No specific release date was announced, but it’s expected that The Witcher will arrive later in 2019.
