The Enterprise has traveled to an unexplored section of space and found a Starfleet beacon. When the away team explored the planet they were ambushed by Klingon soldiers while the Enterprise was attacked by the Klingon warship.

The battle is raging in the sky as Klingon warriors drop onto the outside of the Enterprise to claw their way in. Captain Kirk, Spock, and other crew members engage them in combat as the Klingons try to breach the hull. On the planet’s surface McCoy bargains for his and the away team’s safety with the Klingons who, surprisingly, accept. Though they do plan to take the away team back to their ship.

So far Star Trek Manifest Destiny is not a morality tale – it’s straight up action. The art by Angel Hernandez with colors by Doug Garbark and Adam Guzowski has been great. Hernandez’s provides sharp, detailed art and the colors glow with energy. Issue #2, written by Mike Johnson and Ryan Parrott, continues the pace set in the first issue with a combat heavy story as the Enterprise faces one of their most formidable foes. But, given one surprising twist near the end of this issue, it appears that this four-issue miniseries is about to get more complicated.
