Jughead is still at odds with the new Riverdale High administration, and he’s now convinced that there’s something seriously sinister going on. He wastes no time upon his return from his suspension to start investigating Principal Stranger and see what’s really going on at school. Before he executes his questionable mission, he manages to fit in another wild daydream (while, in the real world, being pelted by dodgeballs), in which he takes on the role of Slackbeard the Pirate.

The ending of Jughead #4 is quite the tense cliffhanger, and it seems Jughead himself could be in serious peril – it should be interesting to see how he finagles his way out of it. I thought the daydream sequence in this issue to be probably the weakest so far, almost to the point where I’m growing tired of them showing up in every issue. But I have confidence that the creative team on this will be able to bounce back, given that the actual real world story is so solid. Jughead is a worthwhile series and anyone at all interested in Archie Comics needs to give it a look.
