Wynonna Earp, a member of the US Marshals’ Black Badge Division, has stopped Mars Del Rey, the leader of the Chupacabra Cartel. Unfortunately her Agent Dolls doesn’t like the way she does things and has called in Valdez, a special agent, to oversee the headstrong Earp.

Following the semi-destruction of Malad, Idaho, Earp and Dolls have headed to Wayne County, West Virginia to bust up a paranormal fight club. Odell Grubb, a/k/a the Rural King is the leader of the club with an eye on Earp for a slot in his fighting ring. Of course, that’s if she can survive a fight against the behemoth of a woman that just walked into the bar.

Thanks to writer Beau Smith, Wynonna Earp is growing in depth and character development. Rather than stopping at fists, fights, and foul mouths, Smith is adding layers to the characters and the overall stories. We have not one but two mysterious characters and new questions about Earp’s place in the world. Chris Evenhuis and Jay Fotos on art and colors, respectively, are elevating the book by giving the characters lots of attitude and personality that jumps off the page. The action is so finely drawn and colored that you can practically hear noses break.
