When DK III was first announced, there were many who downplayed Frank Miller’s actual involvement in the story. To be fair, there are many points in the series that would by their style seem to come more from co-writer Brian Azzarello, but there are some distinctly Miller-esque moments as well. And then there’s the back-up features, which Miller has not only co-written, but he’s also penciled, inked or both penciled and inked three of the four thus far.
More important than Miller’s presence, though, is the story itself. However the combination of Miller, Azzarello, Andy Kubert, Klaus Janson, and Alex Sinclair works, the evidence is that they are clearly clicking. All four issues to date have been compelling reads and each successive issue has been the best so far, which makes for great comics.
