Inspired by the action figure line, Marvel Comics’ 1976 series Micronauts introduced many to the work of artist Michael Golden and later artist Butch Guice, as well as a rich microverse of characters and concepts developed by writer Bill Mantlo. It was great stuff, and it remains one of the most influential licensed comics ever.

Flash forward to today: Writer Cullen Bunn was clearly one of the creators influenced by that original Marvel series. While this new Micronauts has a fundamentally different story – the Marvel team’s original material and characters belong to Marvel – it exudes the right feel and epic-on-a-small-stage sensibility that fans of the original will enjoy. It’s highly accessible to new readers as well.
