After fighting his way out of the small town super prison, Pleasant Hill, Steve Rogers was returned to his old self, meaning his young powerful self. Now he’s back working alongside the current Captain America, Sam Wilson.

Captain America (Steve Rogers) is back to fighting Hydra. This time it’s against Hydra with suicide bombers. He is faced with trying to save not only a train full of people but also the Hydra member with a bomb strapped to his chest. Then Maria Hill informs him that they have found Baron Zemo and Cap will be sent to retrieve the high ranking Hydra agent.

Captain America Steve Rogers #1 is basically broken down into three stories. Captain America fighting Hydra, the story of a young man joining Hydra, and the story of Sarah Rogers and her sweet little boy Steven. The young man who joined Hydra is a common story about a poor kid seduced by the passionate speech of a man who promises to make his life better. But what happens at the end of the other two stories will rock Marvel fans to their comics loving cores. And that’s not hyperbole.

Captain America Steve Rogers #1 was written by Nick Spencer with art by Jesus Saiz. The story had great pacing, giving just enough to make the reader excited for whatever grand conclusion was on the way and the art is both optimistic and haggard the way many soldiers are.

In the interest of keeping this review spoiler free, I’m not going to offer my opinion. Suffice to say that Marvel has certainly started something big with this comic and it’ll be very interesting to see where they go from here.
