It’s time for a dose of supreme cuteness in Strawberry Shortcake #5 “Food Truck Frenzy.” Sweet and Sour Grapes are headed to the annual food truck festival in Port Orchard and they want Strawberry’s help. In addition to selling their usually yummy food, the food trucks also have a competition to see who can sell the most ice cream sundaes. Sweet and Sour have never won, so they ask Strawberry to come along and offer some tips on how to sell more of the sweet treats.

Georgia Ball turns in another very cute issue. I’ve been loving this title since its return. The kids are all still funny, unique, and as their fruity names would imply, sweet. Tina Franscisco’s art and Mae Hao’s colors are displayed beautiful. They are modernized to fit popular animation trends, yet there are still plenty of traces of the original characters. Hao makes each color pop with delightful vibrancy.

Then in the short story “Summer Dance Bummer” by Kristen Gudsnuk with art by Nico Peña and colors by Jordi Escuin, Plum busts her foot while busting a move. Thankfully, she can count on her friends to cheer her up when she’s feeling so down.

It’s an all-ages breath of fresh air each month, particularly for us ’80s kids who nostalgically remember Strawberry and her gang.
