Archie Comics; $3.99

Veronica is officially on the Riverdale High slam list after her father drove one of the teachers out of town during his political campaign – and by extension, Archie ends up caught up in it. In an attempt to get back on the student body’s good side, Veronica forms a band with Archie (The Ronnies, of course) in order to win the school’s talent show. Not to be outdone, Betty forms her own group to try and take the competition for themselves.

This issue really solidifies the Betty-Veronica rivalry – and not just between their bands, either. It also appears as though Archie and Betty are finally ready to reconcile in the aftermath of the Lipstick Incident, though that relationship may drive a wedge between him and Veronica. Basically, the quintessential love triangle (though with Betty’s boyfriend Sayid in the picture, it may be more of a square) is heating up, and if the series so far is any indication, it’s sure to be interesting.
