Over the past few years, the folks at Archie have found dozens of new ways to reinvent or reinvigorate their classic characters for today’s audience, and it doesn’t look like they’re about to stop anytime soon. This time they’ve teamed Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica and Reggie with Joey, Tommy, Johnny, and Dee Dee Ramone for what is a surprising fun romp.

Actually, to be fair, it shouldn’t be surprising. Co-writer Alex Segura has pulled off stranger crossovers (Archie Meets Kiss, for one) and supervises their Dark Circle superhero comics. This time he was teamed with co-writer Matthew Rosenberg (We Can Never Go Home) and artist Gisele Lagace and the results are truly fun.

Archie Meets The Ramones sends The Archies back in time to CBGB courtesy of Sabrina, and the story – which centers around a Ramones album – just comes together from there. It’s very enjoyable and very much in keeping with the spirits and tones of both groups.
