Archie Comics; $3.99
Veronica and Archie have had a pretty rough week, what with Veronica being unceremoniously moved out of Riverdale and into an all-girls boarding school in Switzerland after her father lost the mayoral race. However, Ronnie quickly becomes accustomed to her new normal thanks to the help of her red-headed classmate, Cheryl Blossom – who might not be as kind as she first appears to be. And Archie? Well, thanks to Jughead, he’s starting to move on from Veronica’s total ghosting of him; Betty too is also learning to move on from her own breakup.
This is an interesting issue, insomuch that it focuses far more on Veronica’s current strife than on Archie’s. The introduction of Cheryl to the mix seems a tad early, as we still have yet to get the full-blown love triangle between Archie, Betty, and Veronica. But at the very least, her antagonistic ways should prove to be interesting to the overall storyline, especially as she sets her sights on Archie. Archie’s writing continues to be its strongest point, and those who have yet to get on board with the New Riverdale imprint should probably start soon.
