It’s time for Mockingbird’s showdown with the Phantom Rider. She and her nerd squad on the cruise ship will battle him as he tries to kiss her or kill her on the deck of the Diamond Porpoise. During the confrontation, Bobbi deals with her own issues, including thinking about famous exes, and creating a flowchart to beat the Phantom Rider.

The only thing wrong with this issue is that it’s the last one. Mystery novelist Chelsea Cain has written a whip smart, funny, clever series for Bobbi, bringing the confident, sassy fighter to life in delightful fashion. It’s been very funny throughout, from silly to ridiculous gags, but also smarter humor that pokes fun at society and comics. The last page is a perfect way to end it.

Katie Niemczyk and Rachelle Rosenberg handled penciling and coloring, respectively. They made a collection of emotive, beautiful people with gorgeous cruise-worthy scenery. Phantom Rider is both spooky and cowboy-gallant, with a glow that is so vivid you can practically feel his aura coming off the page.

Here’s to hoping Cain and crew will be back for another round with the lovely Mockingbird.
