Fox Mulder and his bodies found a weird green ooze in the woods. Despite the fact that Eric’s dad told them it was nothing suspicious, the boys – at least Fox and Tim – can’t help but think something is really wrong. They become even more curious after seeing the guys from the beach cleaning up the rest of the green ooze. Is it alien? Could it be scientific? Can the boys trust any of the adults in their lives?

Across the country Dana Scully is trying to solve her Sunday School teacher’s murder. She has found some clue to who killed Mr. Wilson, but so far the skills she gleaned from Sherlock Holmes and Nancy Drew aren’t cutting it. Her new friend Mercy is willing to help, but what Dana sees on her stakeout could change her world forever.

Mulder’s story is by Jody Houser and Matthew Dow Smith with script by Houser and art by Chris Fenoglio. Scully’s story is by Smith and Houser with script by Smith and art by Corin Howell.

While they are on opposite sides of the country in different years and dealing with different situations, both Mulder and Scully are on similar paths. The intelligent kids are both convinced that more is happening than meets the eye, questioning the honesty of the adults in their lives. It reads like a typical X-Files story but their youthful energy, concerns about whether or not they can trust adults, and determination to find the truth in whatever adventurous method is needed, gives this a certain Goonies feel. So far it’s been a very fun adventure.
