After cleverly escaping Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra has struck out into the galaxy to find rare artifacts. But, her life gets complicated once again when her estranged father shows up. He has had her doctorate suspended to blackmail her into helping him.

He wants to find a spiritual sect on what he thinks is an isolated moon, but is really Yavin 4. The Empire is everywhere, so in order to fulfill the Massassi archelogy, they must distract the Empire and sneak into a temple. Easy enough.

Doctor Aphra and her psychotic droids, Triple Zero and Beetee, were great additions to the Darth Vader limited series. This story, written by Kieron Gillen, gives Aphra her own adventure, though things are getting off track for her. It’s fairly interesting so far, but what made Aphra formidable in the Darth Vader series has yet to appear. Hopefully her diabolical strategy, and the droids amusing, albeit frightening, antics will shine through in future issues.
