As the flashback continues from the first issue of this Batman ’66 spinoff, Wonder Woman faces off against Ra’s al Ghul as the latter seeks to steal some books from the Wayne family. Young Bruce finds himself caught in the middle of the fight and accidentally lands himself in a cave full of bats (explaining the origin of his future alter-ego as well as his hideout), but is eventually saved by Wonder Woman. However, in present day, Batman realizes that it may be his turn to save Wonder Woman, as the evil Demon’s Head is clearly headed for her home of Paradise Island.
Batman ’66 Meets Wonder Woman ’77 might be the best spinoff from Batman ’66 yet. That Wonder Woman would have been involved in Batman’s origin story is quite clever, and it’s made obvious that her heroics left a lasting imprint on him. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when Bruce, now grown, presumably runs into Wonder Woman once again. Obviously fans of the old television series will get a kick out of this, but this is a wonderfully fun story regardless of how familiar you are with the other media.
