The Ash-Xena crossover comes to an end in Army of Darkness Xena Warrior Princess #6. They have finally landed in the right place at the right time and discovered who their enemy is – along with his Deadite Army. As bad guys do, their foe spills his history, reason for becoming a villain, and plans for destroying the world. Thankfully for the world, Xena, Ash, and Gabrielle are ready for battle.

While this issue did wrap up the miniseries, it did leave one question unanswered. Ash “The Warrior Who Walks Through Time” realizes that they were put together for a reason. But, who sent him all over time to find Xena and Gabrielle? Could there be another miniseries in the works?

Army of Darkness Xena Warrior Princess was both good and underwhelming. Scott Lobdell wrote some very entertaining dialogue between the noble Xena and the loveable jerk that is Ash. Considering how different they are, the two do work well together and produce plenty of laughs while they’re at it. But, it took too long to get to the big battle at the end of the miniseries and then the fight ended too quickly. I enjoyed the series overall, but the pacing could’ve been better to create a more satisfying action-filled ending.

The art by Diego Galindo and Igor Lima and colors by Pete Pantazis were great. The likenesses were solid, there were plenty of background details to layout the story, and the thick lines gave it a gruff quality that was perfect for the tone of the story.
