As the U.S.S. Endeavor is heading back out to space following the Babel peace summit, Uhura and Spock return to New Vulcan to continue their sabbatical. On the planet, Spock picks up his work with the science academy, studying a geothermal anomaly. Uhura takes a post at the academy teaching classes about Earth history and culture. It’s a pretty comfortable view of domestic happiness, including Spock’s dad dropping hints about marriage, when Uhura starts having visions of something catastrophic.
This issue, written by Mike Johnson and Ryan Parrott, is all about Uhura and Spock and it was very entertaining. We see the Vulcans through Uhura’s eyes, depicting the merit and likability of their frankness and logic-based lives. Whether it serves as a filler issue or the beginning of a larger story, it was very good.
