It seems at times that every time someone blinks, Marvel releases another new book based on some Spider-Verse character. Fortunately for everyone, this one happens to be really good. Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man drops readers right into the day-to-day life of Peter, which he isn’t too great at balancing at the moment. He goes from hanging out with the Human Torch, to getting asked out on a date by a very forward young woman, to running into Ant-Man, to being introduced to the Tinkerer’s less-malevolent brother, to being knocked around by an Iron Man suit of some sort. A busy day indeed.

As far as yet another new Spider-Man book is concerned, this is pretty good. The action is all there, and Chip Zdarsky’s particular brand of humor suits Peter really well. Adam Kubert’s artwork also happens to be really spot-on as well, capturing Peter’s natural expressiveness while in the suit. Sure, it’s another Spider-Man book, but it’s off to a good start and is already throwing in some bizarre twists. Should be interesting to see where this series goes.
