The Batman rebirth series has hit #25 and in this special extra-sized anniversary issue, we are introduced to “The War of Jokes and Riddles.” Two of Batman’s most formidable opponents are the focal point of this issue, both discontent and struggling with a conundrum. The Riddler can’t find a riddle that’ll stump him and the Joker can’t find a joke that’ll make him laugh. Naturally, teaming up to take on Batman seems like a good solution. Or does it?

It would be hard to top the surprise ending in Batman #24, so writer Tom King steered this issue away from that story into one that features the Riddler and Joker working together or against each other. It’s a bit of a slow mover, but it aptly illustrates how cold and calculating these two can be. Add in the splash page near the end of the book and you’ll see that this could be a very exciting story for Batman fans, or rather, fans of his villains.
