In the debut issue of Mighty Mouse we met Joey, a lonely kid who is bullied at school and goes home to an empty house because his mom works late. Joey finds refuge in cartoons, drawing himself into a Mighty Mouse story. To his surprise, Mighty Mouse literally jumps off the page into his world.

Mighty Mouse #2 opens with shared astonishment between Joey and Mighty Mouse. Once things settle down, Mighty Mouse hears a cry for help and, naturally, flies off to save the day! What he doesn’t expect is shocking the people with his very presence. The adoration that follows, well, that he already knows how to handle.

Sholly Fisch wrote a fun, entertaining issue. It’s cute and silly but also inspiring and gives the reader a warm fuzzy feeling. Mighty Mouse is such an altruistic hero, but watching him adjust to the “real world” is very funny. The art by Igor Lima and colors by Pete Pantazis are great companions to the story, keeping things moving in fun, comedic ways.
