Cable has continued to pursue Conquest, a man from the far future who seeks to assemble the Time Sword, across the timestream. Cable battles face-to-face with Conquest to kick off this issue in the Russia of the earliest 20th century, and Cable doesn’t waste any time explaining why he continues to pursue Conquest – Conquest has really screwed things up as far as history is concerned by leaving advanced weaponry throughout the timeline, and Cable seeks to put an end to it.
This might be the best issue of Cable so far in this new series. With Cable and Conquest facing off, it makes for some really excellent action – and the fact that we finally get some exposition on Conquest’s motives is also good. The art in this issue, done by Yildiray Cinar, is I think a marked improvement over the first three issues; it’s just a better style for this character. Cable seemed to have gained somewhat of an upper hand in this issue, so it’s sure to be interesting to see what happens next.
