Marvel’s Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi has begun. In Star Wars: Captain Phasma #1, the character who became an immediate favorite among fans, despite very limited screen time in The Force Awakens, is seen during the devastation at Starkiller Base. The story begins when she emerges from the garbage chute, where she was forced to go by Resistance fighters Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Finn. Now, quite angry, Captain Phasma wants to know exactly what is going wrong on the base and who is responsible for its rapid demise.

This miniseries is off to a pretty good start. Written by Kelly Thompson, it’s very fast and exciting, complete with minute by minute countdown and Phasma’s methodical exploration of the base. The character is mysterious like Boba Fetta and formidable like Darth Vader. It’ll be exciting to see if she’ll live up to the growing reputation.

The art by Marco Checchetto with colors by Andres Mossa is great throughout. There’s chaos and battles going on around her, yet they focus on the details of each moment in Phasma’s hunt. It’s clearly detailed and colored beautifully with gleaming silvers, glowing reds, and explosive oranges.
