Ash Williams has been fighting Deadites and the Necronomicon Ex Mortis for many years. He’s even traveled back in time. But he’s still surprised to find out that his exploits are known throughout history and that a supernatural military team has joined his cause. Unfortunately, they’ve also joined the school where he has been “teaching” while investigating Deadite activity. Secret military, high school kids, evil book, Ash Williams all in the same place ‒ what could possibly go wrong?

The third issue of Ash vs. The Army of Darkness veers away from the kitschy high school nostalgia with a history lesson and some very tense moments between Ash and the military personnel. The story by Chris Sims and Chad Bowers is still pretty entertaining, with Ash’s brand of charm and heroics. The Deadites are mostly absent from this issue, but the ending foretells some exciting conflict in the next issue.
