The Pokémon Adventures manga celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, which is by no means an insignificant milestone for any ongoing storyline. This art book features more than 170 pages that include gorgeous full-color artwork of key manga scenes (many in color for the first time), character designs, and cover art. There’s also storyboards, four pull-out posters, plus a short manga that was originally exclusive to the Pokémon Daisuki Club as well, now available in English for the first time.

While this is being billed as a Pokémon Adventures art book, it should be noted that the art from this book dates just to 2001 rather than to the beginning of the series. The original artist, Mato, left the series after nine volumes, with Satoshi Yamamoto taking over that; ultimately this is a showcase of Yamamoto’s art exclusively.

The Pokémon Adventures manga is one of the bestselling manga series of all time, and this art book makes a perfect companion for any existing collection. It’s a really cool behind the scenes look at Yamamoto’s creative process on the book and definitely shouldn’t be overlooked.
