Marvel Comics; $3.99

After an External named Candra is discovered dead – a feat in itself as Externals are supposedly immortal – Cable gets a team of mutants together to help investigate how and why it happened. It ends up being somewhat of an oddball group, consisting of Cable, Longshot, Shatterstar, and even Doop. They aim to track down Celene in an effort to discover who is hunting Externals, but she isn’t exactly happy to see them.

This issue of Cable returns to the legacy numbering (and even includes a brand new Marvel Value Stamp inside), and is very much a “legacy” kind of issue for the character. With an extremely ’90s group of characters appearing and plenty of high-octane action, it fits well with how the character was portrayed back in the day while still remaining contemporary. This looks like it could be a pretty interesting story arc, and it’s nice to see Cable acting within a team again after the solo adventure of the previous arc.
