Dynamite; $3.99
Solomon Schick, the B-movie director the Librarians were investigating, is actually still alive! Not only that, in the second issue he tried to convince them of false memories and the warping of reality versus fiction.
In #3 (of 4) we learn that Solomon was on to something. Oscar Orville has gotten out of jail and upon his grand entrance to Solomon’s apartment, kidnaps the director and Cassandra. He takes them to what seems like a dimensional pocket and reveals that in our reality, magic was forced underground during the industrial revolution and that he’s from a different timeline where magic rose above industry, technology, and media. Once the magicians discovered our timeline they began studying it. But to what end?
While Oscar explains this other timeline, Flynn, Eve, Stone, and Ezekiel traverse the globe following clues in the hope of finding and saving Cassandra. What they find are world mysteries that are out of place from their real locations.
To reiterate my last review, Will Pfeiffer is doing a great job on this miniseries. The complex story started out simply enough but the mystery kept growing with a combination of magic and imagination. It’s interesting, just a little suspenseful, with a hint of silliness – just like the TV show. The only downside to this issue was that Oscar’s big reveal didn’t leave much room for the Librarians’ trademark personalities, so we don’t get many wisecracks from Ezekiel or art history lessons from Stone.
But collectively it’s very entertaining and I’m looking forward to the conclusion in issue 4.
