Things are never quiet and content in Gotham City. So when you open a comic and it looks like Bruce and Selina are comfy and warm, asleep in Wayne Manor, you know something’s about to go down.

Bruce vaults out of bed and does a series of bizarre things that don’t make sense. That is until you learn that Poison Ivy is using her special brand of charm in a new bid for Mother Earth. Ivy, the botanical beauty has found a way to control people all over the Earth. When Bruce asks what she wants, her answer is downright unsettling.

Tom King wrote an intriguing first issue in this “Everyone Loves Ivy” story arc. It’s intimate, in several ways, scary, and sexy – it’s very Poison Ivy. The ending is left wide open, so just about anything could happen to our heroes and the rest of the world. What I’m curious to see is if some of that Gotham City Sirens friendship will appear to create friction between the Bat and the Cat.

Mikel Janin provided the art with June Chung on colors and both did a terrific job. Ivy is so hypnotically alluring that you can practically inhale the pheromones, meanwhile Batman and Catwoman are the very picture of desperation and tension. A creative two-page panel spread and one page splash are the anchors for the great art and colors.
