Get ready for another packed issue, Rangers. It’s morphin’ time!
The “Shattered Grid” event continues in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #27, starting on Drakkon’s World where the leader of the Coinless is captive, but might get some assistance through a surprise cameo by a double agent.
Lauren of the Samurai team and Jen of Time Force are with our Power Rangers, catching each other up on the situation as Drakkon’s forces are invading everywhere. They use the transportal technology with the teleportation system to get a signal across the grid to ensure that as many Rangers as possible know about the situation.
Through the communication, they are contacted by Doctor K of the ranger Operator Program who might be able to counter the Black Dragon Cannons that can disrupt connections to the Morphin Grid. Then the Coinless check in to request help because they think they have a way to beat Drakkon. As all of this is happening, Drakkon is on his world about to get another upgrade through more power signatures.
Phew! Writer Kyle Higgins isn’t messing around with this story. It’s large, it’s multifaceted, and it could be the biggest challenge the Rangers have ever faced. Each new piece of the story brings new opportunities and complications, but keeps things on track for a cohesive conclusion. “Shattered Grid” has been really good and continues the momentum here.
The art was provided by Daniele Di Nicuolo with ink assistance by Simona Di Gianfelice and colors by Walter Baiamonte. There’s a lot going on in this issue from intimate conversation to battle scenes, and they are executed well, with excitement and emotion. The colors clearly set the tone for each scene and the Rangers are easily differentiated, even among doppelgängers.
