Cable continues to time-hop as he alternately flees and battles with a techno-organic demon from his past (and present, and future), and this time, his X-Force team is also involved. In order to train them for the threats they’ll eventually face, Cable pits them against another unsavory character from his story at-large: Deadpool. Oh, and after they finish off the hologram, a far more real threat arrives in the form of Metus, putting both Cable’s mutant powers and his leadership to the test.

Cable’s never really been the perfect leader, though this particular issue makes sure to highlight all of his flaws as he continues to hide details of his past from his teammates. This story arc so far might be the best since the relaunch of the Cable series, though, and it’s been full of both drama and action. Plus, it’s always fun to see the OG X-Force lineup – including Boom-Boom, Cannonball, Domino, Shatterstar, Warpath and Feral – together in contemporary comics. The Cable series has really hit its stride within the last few issues, and is worth checking out.
