Dick Tracy, the hardest working police detective around, is back and ready to dispense justice in Dick Tracy Dead or Alive. After arresting a powerful software mogul, Tracy gets fired because the criminal has ties to powerful people.

Meanwhile in Chicago, Big Boy has most of the city government in his pocket with a few exceptions. As people of the city cry for an end to corruption he comes up with the plan of having Dick Tracy hired as a Chicago detective to clean up a few of the streets. Naturally, Dick Tracy has more ambition than that.

This reintroduction of the popular comic strip character was written by Lee and Michael Allred with pencils by Rich Tommaso, inks by Michael Allred, and colors by Laura Allred. It is full of Dick Tracy strip style from the dialogue to the art, with a bit of the modern world thrown in for balance. Tracy is his usual tough self and there’s lots of great throwback phrases and elements for any fan of the character. The art style and color choices are also fun reminders of the original material.
